Our October Monthly Meeting will feature State Senator Molly Cook and Harris County District Attorney Candidate Sean Teare.
Molly Cook is the current State Senator of District 15 after winning an election to replace John Whitmire earlier this year. She’s currently running for re-election in November. Senator Cook is a sixth-generation Texan, born and raised in the Houston area. She is a registered nurse and grassroots organizer. She earned her nursing degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her dual nursing and public health graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. Molly’s community advocacy helped pass a citizen-driven amendment to the City of Houston charter, and she has been recognized by the Houston Chronicle as one of Houston’s transportation leaders. Molly was elected as State Senator after John Whitmire resigned to become Mayor of Houston.
Sean Teare is running for Harris County District Attorney. Sean attended St. Thomas High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s in American history and a Juris Doctor from the Law Center. He served as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for 11 years, including 6 years as the Division Supervisor of the Office’s Vehicular Crimes Division. Sean is running for office because he is “an ardent believer in the prosecutor’s oath – which is to see that justice is served in every case, whether that means dismissing charges, finding a way to give second chances to those who deserve them, or seeking severe sentences for those who are truly a danger to our community.”
We will meet in Pecore Hall, the building south of the church, where there’s plenty of parking as well. Refreshments will start at 6pm, with the Meeting commencing at 6:30pm.
