Our January Monthly Meeting with feature Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones.
Commissioner Briones is a native Texan and proud Latina who grew up on the U.S.-Mexico border. After graduating with honors from Harvard University, she taught 8th and 10th-grade at two of the lowest-income public schools in the country. Then she attended Yale Law School, where she led the Latino Law Students’ Association's public service initiatives and provided pro-bono assistance to survivors of domestic abuse and juvenile offenders. When she returned to Texas, she worked at a major national philanthropic nonprofit before becoming the Judge of Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 4. There she was the highest-rated Harris County Civil Court at Law Judge in the 2019 Houston Bar Association (HBA) Judicial Evaluation Poll and won the 2020 HBA Judicial Preference Poll. In 2022, Lesley Briones was elected in her current role as Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner.
We will meet in Pecore Hall, the building south of the St Stephens Episcopal Church, where there’s plenty of parking. Refreshments will start at 6pm, with the Meeting commencing at 6:30pm.

November Monthly Meeting with Lillie Schechter
Our November Monthly Meeting will feature Lillie Schechter, a a political strategist and fundraiser from Bayou City Strategies.
Lillie Schechter has been advising local and national Democratic candidates and organizations for nearly a decade. In 2009, Lillie launched her own business, Bayou City Strategies, which has grown to encompass all aspects of progressive politics: fundraising, campaign strategy, candidate training, and beyond.
We will meet in Pecore Hall, the building south of the church, where there’s plenty of parking as well. Refreshments will start at 6pm, with the Meeting commencing at 6:30pm.

October Monthly Meeting with Molly Cook and Sean Teare
Our October Monthly Meeting will feature State Senator Molly Cook and Harris County District Attorney Candidate Sean Teare.
Molly Cook is the current State Senator of District 15 and is currently running for re-election in November. She is a registered nurse and grassroots organizer. Molly’s community advocacy helped pass a citizen-driven amendment to the City of Houston charter, and she has been recognized by the Houston Chronicle as one of Houston’s transportation leaders. Molly was elected as State Senator after John Whitmire resigned to become Mayor of Houston.
Sean Teare is running for Harris County District Attorney. He served as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for 11 years, including 6 years as the Division Supervisor of the Office’s Vehicular Crimes Division.

September Monthly Meeting with Annette Ramirez and Joshua Martin
Our September Monthly Meeting will feature Annette Ramirez and Joshua Martin.
Annette Ramirez is our Democratic candidate for Harris County Tax Assessor Collector. She is first generation Mexican American and Texan who began her career working in logistics and operations for oil and gas tankers but pivoted to a career in the law while she began her family. She has worked in the legal department for Aldine Independent School District for over 20 years. She currently serves as Assistant General Counsel overseeing the District’s in-house property tax collection, litigation, and real estate matters. Ramirez is a proactive, innovative leader, demonstrating her ability to update technology and transform systems on time and under budget.
Joshua Martin is a community organizer from Houston, TX. A rising senior at the University of Houston, Martin served as the institutions 59th Student Body President and the first freshman to ever assume the role. Josh served as the President of the Black Student Union and is the current Leader of #ForTheStudents, and the National Political Director of the College Democrats of America.
